‘‘Tis the season to be jolly”.

Our December Women of Wool feature is Angie Garrett Jensen. Angie is the wife of Lane Jensen. Together, they run Eph Jensen Livestock. They have 3 summer bands and run in Cache and Weber Counties on the family Summer Range and also have forest service permits in Wasatch County by Hanna. They are the proud parents of 4 children. Cooper Carl (20), Madelaine Kate (12), Sophia Ruth (10), and Caleb Eph (8). Lane is a 3rd generation rancher. Angie grew up in the country side but did not live on a farm. As the oldest of 8 children, she needed to find a way to help to pay for school clothes and extracurricular activities. So, at the age of 13, she went to work at a potato farm and continued working there throughout High School. She also spent many hours on other farms riding horses and doing the many chores that went along with that responsibility. Angie and Lane met in High School while both were attending Bear River High. They were very active in the FFA and 4-H. They have been married for almost 20 years! Angie loves to work side by side with Lane. From driving the swather in the hay fields, to docking lambs the "real" way in the spring. She has done almost all of it and enjoys every aspect of living and raising a family on the sheep ranch. She enjoys cooking and baking for the shearing crews in the Spring and Fall. One of her favorite "chores" to do is trailing the sheep home from their summer range. The Jensens are the only sheep outfit that maintains the historic livestock trail through Brigham City. They leave Mantua, drive down Sardine Canyon, through Brigham City and past Corinne to bring the herd home to winter pastures in Bear River City. It takes all day with the help from UDOT, UHP and the local county sheriff and police. Angie has been involved with many local civic organizations. She served for many years on the North Box Elder Farm Bureau Women's Committee, is active in her church, and is a proud member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She has been a lifelong member and is currently holding the position of Director of Utah Girls State. She loves supporting our troops and veterans. She is also the newest member of the Box Elder County Mounted Sheriff's Posse. Angie went back to work in town about 18 months ago. She makes the commute to Logan everyday to Cache Valley Hospital. There, she is the front office manager of the lab and a phlebotomist. Thank you Angie for all you do!
